In the second part of the interview Ambassador Ashraf Jehangir Qazi explains Pakistan’s foreign policy, the mistakes Pakistan made, success Pakistan had and the opportunities Pakistan has. He explains at great length Pakistan’s leadership crisis and says the country’s real leaders have rarely been allowed to reach top positions. While discussing worst times in Pakistan’s history, he says 2023 could be the worst year in Pakistan’s history after 1971 debacle “when Quaid-e-Azam’s Pakistan was laid to rest”.
Ambassador Qazi is Pakistan’s former ambassador to several countries, including the United States. He also held several national and international appointments, including serving with the United Nations.
In the first part of the interview, Qazi says Cypher from Washington was a very serious matter which carried a warning and a categorical message: If Imran Khan is removed things can improve between Pakistan and the United States. It was a very serious warning indeed, he said. He claims that the US is indirectly involved in Imran Khan’s ouster. “People say it was a conspiracy… It was no conspiracy. It was a direct warning,” he says.
