American Pakistani Advocacy Group (APAG), a local community organization, hosted a reception for the recipients of APAG’s Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah Scholarship for 2022. The need-based assistance scholarship program for first-generation Pakistani-American college students is the first of its kind for Pakistani American students.
“The scholarship is to aid these students in their academic endeavors and to cultivate leaders of the next generation,” says an announcement posted by APAG president Ali Rashid on his Facebook page.
APAG has awarded 10 scholarships to selecteed students currently attending colleges and universities. The APAG plans to double the number of scholarships from next year.
The APAG also recognized its members who contributed by providing valuable input, volunteering and activism. It offered special thanks to New York State Senator John Liu, Councilmember Linda Lee and Counsel General of Pakistan in New York Ayesha Ali for attending the event.
